MBBS Graduate With 29 Gold Medals is Suffering Jobless

29 gold medals in various courses were won by Dr. Hafiz Waleed Malik, a successful person who studied medicine. Nevertheless, he has had trouble finding employment in spite of his excellent accomplishments. After receiving rejection letters from more than 20 private institutions, he recently posted on Instagram to express his sadness.

He asserts that, at private hospitals, 99 percent of doctor posts are filled through referrals, with just 1 percent of appointments made on the basis of merit, which he thinks to represent the country’s general tendency. He voiced his surprise at the dearth of options available to talented people like himself and blamed it on a prevalent “culture of recommendations.”

In a recent interview, Dr. Malik expressed his disapproval of this mentality and his support for a merit-based medical career structure. He thinks that rather than considering a candidate’s connections, hospitals should consider their qualifications. His Instagram post attracted a lot of attention and sparked discussions.

While Dr. Malik emphasised that he did not desire internet celebrity, he did want to increase public awareness of the reality of the healthcare system. He thinks that all kids, not just those who excel academically, are impacted by the recommendation culture. His objective is to encourage equity and equal opportunity in both public and commercial healthcare facilities.

Dr. Malik advocated for changes to the government sector and system upgrades while acknowledging that private organisations have their own employment policies. While he is proud of his academic accomplishments, he wishes Pakistan had a system where merit trumped personal recommendations.
