Desecration of Holy Quran is a Crime in Russia: President Putin Reminds the World

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, unlike in some other nations where it is not punishable, desecration of the Holy Quran is a crime in Russia.

Putin spoke with Muslim groups and toured the old mosque while in Derbent, Dagestan Autonomous Republic.

He was given a copy of the Holy Quran as a present, and he expressed his thanks while highlighting how important the Quran is to Muslims and their dedication to upholding its integrity.

The President’s remarks were in response to an incident in which someone tore up and set fire to a copy of the Holy Quran outside a mosque in Stockholm, Sweden.

Following that, the guy was accused of inciting hatred towards a national or ethnic group. Protests against Islam in Sweden have outraged the Muslim world, including Turkey, where the foreign minister denounced such demonstrations in the name of freedom of speech.

Russia has already declared its opposition to the burning of the Quran. The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the conduct as an Islamophobic provocation following a recent event in Sweden, which led to a significant response in the Muslim community in Russia and throughout the Islamic world.

In his statement, Putin reiterated Russia’s commitment to upholding religious sensibilities and considering the blasphemy of the Holy Quran as a crime punishable by the country’s Constitution and criminal law.
