Punjab to Establish Residential Management Committees in Private Housing Societies

In order to discuss the challenges the construction sector is currently experiencing and to suggest solutions for its expansion, a team from the Association of Builders and Developers Pakistan (ABAD) recently met with Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi at the CM’s Office.

Chief Minister Naqvi gave the team his word that he will implement concrete suggestions to help the construction sector at the discussion. In discussion with professionals in the building sector, it was agreed to revise the building regulations.
The creation of Residential Management Committees in private housing societies was one of the ideas proposed. The need of reviving the construction sector was emphasised by Chief Minister Naqvi in order to create thousands of new jobs.

Chief Minister Naqvi also gave the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and other organisations the directive to concentrate on improving public access to building laws. The formation of a committee under the direction of Commissioner Lahore/DG LDA was done in order to collect feedback from all parties and create final recommendations.

 Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the DG LDA and Commissioner for the Lahore Division, also attended the meeting.
Rana Intizar Hussain, the LHCBA’s president, led a delegation to meet with Chief Minister Naqvi in a separate setting to discuss the problems facing the legal profession.

The group was reassured by Chief Minister Naqvi that the issues facing the legal community will receive top focus. In addition to announcing his plan to visit the hospital shortly, he pledged his commitment to enhancing the treatment options at hospitals serving the legal profession.

In order to solve the traffic and parking issues, Chief Minister Naqvi also said that he would be open to reviewing the idea of building a parking plaza outside Aiwan-e-Adal. Informing the delegation that the government would take the required action to support the attorneys, he gave the deputy commissioner the order to allot property for the parking plaza.

The LHCBA delegation included senior vice-president Asif Amin Goraya, vice-president Nadeem Anjum Khan, vice-president of the Model Town Courts Hadi Hussain Bhatti, vice-president of the Cantt Courts Farrukh Ahmad Khan, secretary general Malik Kafeel Khokhar, and secretary Omar Waqas Warraich, among others.

Amir Mir, the provincial minister of information, was joined at the meetings by the Deputy Commissioner, Secretary Law, Additional Chief Secretary, and CCPO Lahore.
